Direct Savings Turns Up The Heat With New Appointment
Direct Savings, Scotland’s leading energy saving experts, is cementing its new drive to secure more business from the Government’s eco-programme with the appointment of a new general manager.
Will Hinshelwood will focus on driving forward business opportunities from the Green Deal and ECO – the two key platforms established to help make homes and businesses across the UK more energy efficient.
Will, formerly of energy efficiency specialists Miller Pattison, has an outstanding knowledge of the insulation industry and has extensive experience working with social housing providers across Scotland.
His key role will be to explore partnerships, in particular, through ECO – the programme which involves the big energy providers using suppliers such as Direct Savings to install energy efficiency measures for low-income and vulnerable households.
Will, who be based out of the firm’s Head Office in Bathgate in the newly created post, said: “I am very much looking forward to developing opportunities for Direct Savings particularly with the big six energy suppliers and working closely with housing providers who can reap the benefits from ECO and Green Deal.
“ECO in particular is a fantastic scheme, allowing people who cannot afford to heat their homes to get the measures they need to live a better life as well as reducing energy consumption.
“Direct Savings have already invested heavily in training staff to ensure it is ideally positioned to deliver Green Deal/ECO advantages for households across Scotland.
“We are already negotiating a number of agreements to take forward ECO schemes in Scotland.
“We believe there is tremendous scope for Direct Savings to grow significantly from these opportunities within the energy efficiency sector – and we will be ensuring we seize every opportunity we can to benefit our business and our workforce.”
From a standing start in April 2010, Direct Savings quickly developed into a £12million turnover business as one of the UK’s biggest loft and cavity wall insulation specialists under the government’s previous subsidised energy efficiency scheme.
Direct Savings are approved Green Deal assessors and installers and have already handled hundreds of assessments for funding for energy efficiency improvements in homes across Scotland.
Ged Smith, Managing Director at Direct Savings, said: “Will is an extremely important addition to the team and will be central to our vision to take the business forward over the next 12 months.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience which will be hugely valuable to us at this time of change, managing a huge push on our ECO and Green Deal campaigns.
