The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) helps households reduce heat loss and energy bills — and you don’t need to be on benefits to qualify.

Under GBIS, you can get free insulation (such as loft or cavity wall insulation) if your home meets the following criteria:


  • Your property has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G

  • You are in Council Tax bands A to E

✅ LA Flex – More Than Just Insulation


If you live in one of the following council areas, you may qualify for Local Authority Flex (LA Flex) funding — which goes beyond insulation and includes:


  • Free Solar Panels

  • Free Air Source Heat Pumps

  • Free Insulation


LA Flex is designed to help people who fall through the cracks of standard schemes. You do not need to be on benefits to qualify.

Option 1: Income-Based

  • Your total household income is under £31,000


Option 2: Health & Vulnerability-Based (Income doesn’t matter)Someone in your household is:

  • Over the age of 65

  • Pregnant

  • Has children younger than school age

  • Living with:

    • Cardiovascular conditions

    • Respiratory conditions

    • Mental health conditions

    • Disabilities
