What happens if I can’t afford new heating?

The Government's current solution is ECO 3 - or the Energy Companies Obligation - this scheme see’s the UK’s largest energy providers obligated to provide funding to increase the energy efficiency of the nation's homes, making them safe and comfortable.

Who can benefit from the ECO3 grant?

Through ECO3 you simply need to be on, or have been on, one of these benefits in the last 12 months to qualify.

● Child Tax Credits

● Constant Attendance Allowance

● Disability Living Allowance

● Income-based jobseekers allowance (JSA)

● Income Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

● Income Support

● Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

● Pension Credit Guarantee Credit Element

● Personal Independence Payment

● Severe Disablement Allowance War Pensions mobility supplement

● Working and Child Tax Credits

If you are on one of these benefits, we will survey your property and work with you to decide the best option to increase it’s energy efficiency. The funding can cover brand new boilers, first time central heating (upgrading from storage heaters for example) and insulation.

What if I don’t receive a benefit?

If you are not currently receiving any type of benefit but are still grappling with a tight budget, then the LA Flex or “Local Authority Eligibility Flexibility” scheme could help you.

This programme gives your local authority some discretion when it comes to deciding who is eligible for the the Government ECO scheme.

We have working relationships with West Lothian council as well as North and South Lanarkshire councils - in these areas you DO NOT necessarily need to be on a benefit to get help.
